Chiropractic Philosophy, Science and Art...Bringing it all Together
Important Webster Technique Update from the I.C.P.A. Board of Directors
It has been brought to our attention that some people in our profession are still referring to the Webster Technique as the "Webster Breech Turning Technique".
The ICPA has long since stopped calling the Webster Technique a "Breech Turning Technique". Including the term "breech turning" creates potential liability for the doctor of chiropractic. Additionally, referring to it as a "Breech Turning Technique" implies a lack of understanding of the physiology behind the technique.
Although the term "Breech Turning" may be presented as an asset in marketing the technique, we have found that reference to this title actually causes confusion with birth care providers and does not really capture the essence of chiropractic care throughout pregnancy. Our experience in initiating constructive alliances with community health care providers is based on presenting the science and physiology.
If you are interested in learning the Webster Technique or if you are interested in updating your clinical skills with the substantiating physiology, please join us at one of the classes listed below.
At any of these classes you have the opportunity to be tested and issued a Certificate of Proficiency in the Webster Technique and placed on our Membership Referral Directory. Since we have recently started international advertising in magazines such as "Mothering" on behalf of our members, more and more Doctors are seeing the value of receiving their Certificates of Proficiency.
