Drug cisapride linked to 136 deaths in children
A drug used to treat digestive problems and linked to more than 100 deaths is being blamed for a series of gross miscarriages of justice that have seen hundreds of parents wrongly accused of child abuse. http://www.guardian.co.uk/medicine/story/0,11381,1136341,00.html
Flu vaccine not so effectiveA study* conducted by the CDC at a pediatric hospital in Denver of vaccinated health care workers demonstrated that the flu vaccine had no effect in preventing flu-like illnesses among the workers. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5301a3.htm-
Can't sell it? -Give it away!It was said that the flu scare this year created a shortage of flu vaccines. Flu-mist, however did not seem as successful with their sales, ending the year with a 250,000 surpluss of the vaccine.
The makers of Flu-Mist have offered to give away the surpluss of their vaccine. A Wyeth spokesman, Douglas Petkus, said the donation will satisfy public demand for flu vaccine during a shortage of the injectable vaccine. "We simply felt it was the right thing to do," he said.
What a guy! Of the 250,000 doses offered, public health agencies have only taken 44,750.

Prone Sleeping and SIDS

Aspartame
The concern of obesity in this country has many people turning to artificial sweetners. The use of aspartame has risen and its side effects are not well known. Dr. Mercola tells us: "I have devoted more than two decades to analyzing aspartame disease, a widespread but largely ignored disorder. Its existence continues to be reflexively denied by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and many public health/ regulatory organizations." News from Oaklahaven:
Oaklahaven is a non-profit center whose mission is to help sick and disabled children back to health through chiropractic care. For 40 years, the center has promoted that the body was wonderfully made and has the capacity to heal itself. They utilize specific chiropractic adjustments to help restore the life force in the body so the body can begin to restore itself to health and wholeness.
In 1979 Dr. Bobby Doscher, a Philadelphian and graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, became the Chief Executive Officer assuming the Center’s daily operations. In addition to her treatment of the children through chiropractic adjustments, under her guidance, with the Board of Directors, the Center has focused on telling the children's (chiropractic) story. This is accomplished by fundraising, working with the community, writing journal stories and lecturing on natural health care. Parents learn about the developmental sequence, the need for regular adjustments, fresh whole natural foods, fresh air and sunshine, all of which help their children’s bodies grow and maintain health.

Their families are burdened with debts totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Parents have lost their jobs, and most have lost hope.
Every February in celebration of Valentine's Day, Oaklahaven holds a fund raiser called "Have A Heart". It serves to raise monies for Oaklahaven and it also offers parents in your communities the opportunitty to understand the very far reaching effects of chiropractic care for children.
