Our purpose is to offer you the education, training and research pertinent to the Chiropractic Family Wellness practice.

Research:

From the CCP Guidelines: Duration of Care for Correction of Vertebral Subluxation: The following text is from Chapter 7 of the CCP Guides and focuses on Frequency and Duration of Care: http://www.jvsr.com/researchupdate/detail.asp?ID=766
"Chiropractors are encouraged to employ a clinically driven variable length of care format in which the duration of care is determined by each individual patient’s progress toward meeting measurable objectives, set in individualized care plans and identified during individual assessment. This application ensures that patients are not over- or underutilizing a health-care resource and are currently receiving the best possible care."

Comorbidity With Low Back Pain: A Cross-sectional Population-Based Survey of 12- to 22-Year-Olds.
Low back pain is usually dealt with as a specific and independent entity. However, the existing literature shows comorbidity to be common with low back pain, suggesting that low back pain may be part of a broader pattern of general health. The present knowledge is based on studies of adult populations; therefore, associations could be explained by work and lifestyle factors. Information in this area is lacking regarding subjects still unaffected by such factors. Young people are more likely to suffer from asthma and headache, but not from atopic dermatitis/hay fever, if they have low back pain. All of the investigated disorders cluster in some individuals. A model of common origin for these seemingly independent disorders should be considered

Predictive Factors for Neck and Shoulder Pain: A Longitudinal Study in Young Adults . A random sample of 826 high school students was investigated when they were 15 to 18 years old and again at 22 to 25 years of age to estimate the prevalence and incidence of neck and shoulder pain in young adults and to identify the associated and predictive factors of neck and shoulder pain based on 7-year follow-up. In 7 years, the prevalence of weekly neck and shoulder pain increased from 17% to 28%. Among those who were asymptomatic at baseline, 6-month incidence of occasional or weekly neck and shoulder pain was 59% 7 years later. In young adults, the incidence of neck and shoulder pain is high, and the associated factors ofneck and shoulder pain are already multifactorial in a young population. Clinical Corner:

Last week there was a question from a DC about his child with severe peanut allergy. Some responses from our subscribers included:

1- Regarding the practitioner who has a child with a peanut allergy-please refer him to www.naet.com. NAET: an acupressure treatment that may help to reduce or eliminate allergies such as this one. There is a database on their website for certified practitioners-NAET may be taught to health care professionals such as DC'S, MD's, ND's, Nurses, Vets, etc.
J J, D.C. email: drjjuell@telus.net

2- I am a chiropractor in Australia, and have been using the TBM allergy system to remove the reactions of the body to stimuli with great effect, including several peanut allergy patients, two of which were life-threatening anaphylactic responders which are no longer allergic to peanuts at all.

3- I had very good experirnce treating different allergies with Total Body Modification technic.
