ICPA/ Diplomate Mission:
We recognize that chiropractors are leaders in the paradigm of vitalistic health care. The purpose of our Diplomate Program is to offer doctors the educational and clinical experience to confidently and proficiently care for pregnant women and children. The intent of our program is to empower the doctor to expand the chiropractic family wellness lifestyle within their communities, their country and the world.
The ICPA Diplomates achieve this leadership role within the profession
by their on-going
participation in advanced clinical expertise, evidenced based research and valued public education. ICPA Diplomates earn
the honor, the privilege, and the responsibility of carrying
the torch for family chiropractic in their practices, in the
profession and the entire movement of vitalism.
About the ICPA/Diplomate Program:
- The Diplomate is a total of 360 hours
- Part One: is the ICPA 180 Hour Certification Program
- Part Two: is the ICPA 180 Hours Advanced Clinical Competency Program listed on this page
- All Part Two requirements are in-office clinical and research projects, so no travel or time from the office is required.
- Candidates may now take the Diplomate Final Exam upon completion of Part One, prior to completion of Part Two.
- Requirements must be completed no later than two years from the Diplomate Final Exam testing date.
- Final Diplomate status is achieved when all requirements have been met.
As a current ICPA DC member you are eligible to take the Diplomate final exam when the following criteria has been met:
1. Practicing DC with proof of licensure and malpractice.
2. Completion of all Part One 180 Certification Classroom hours.
3. Registration and active participation in Part One: ICPA PBRN Certification Requirement

About the Final Diplomate Exam:
The Diplomate Exam will be held in Philadelphia on Saturday June 5th and Sunday June 6th 2010. Please plan to fly in Friday the 4th of June 2010 to arrive in the afternoon. The Final Diplomate exam is written, administered and graded by the Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics in the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice, an independent academic board. Step One:
Research Case Study Report Writing Course: 48 Hours
This course offers the Diplomate candidate the step by step instructions to write a case study. Included in this on-line course is a textbook, The Case Study Report: The Individual's Experience, supportive DVDs, e-mail correspondence, and coaching for Diplomate Case Study preparation. The course is co-sponsored by the Journal of Maternal and Pediatric Health and Wellness. Registration for the course is through the ICPA. Step Two:
Research Case Study Preparation and Publication Forum: 48 Credit Hours
Case Study Clinical On-Line Forum Registration, Participation and Collaboration with ICPA Research Department for completion and publication of paper. The Diplomate Candidate will also prepare a poster presentation of the Case Study Abstract for the ICPA Freedom For Family Wellness Summit. Read more here:

Step Three:
Practiced Based Research Network participation (PBRN): 48 hours
48 credit hours for two projects

Step Four:
Clinical Rounds: 24 Hours
The course work provides the doctor with the critical evaluation of the existing cases of colleagues presented on the ICPA Clinical Forum. The doctor will be required to submit a quota of cases to the forum and also critically review and answer colleagues' questions on their current cases. Step Five:
Pathways Article: 12
Credit Hours

Step Six:
CPR/ First Aid Certification: 0
Credit Hours
Proof of Certification for the Pediatric CPR and First Aid. This certification can be obtained by your local Red Cross or by the American Heart Association. Copies need to be sent to the ICPA to obtain Diplomate Credit. You can fax a copy of your certificate to the ICPA main office at (610) 565-3567 to attention Diplomate Department. Please

Step Seven:
All Fees Towards Diplomate Part Two must be paid in full to receive Diplomate Status.
Maintenance of Achieved Diplomate Status:
- Current membership to the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice.
- Fulfill 12 hours of continuing education annually. View our many options here.

- Diplomate Application: $100
- Diplomate Payment Options:
- Diplomate Pay in Full Option: To be paid in full; the total cost of the program is $2780. (Does not include $100 application fee)
- Diplomate Auto-Payment Option: To be paid in three installments of $1000. Total $3000. (Does not include $100 application fee)

Diplomate Requirements Deadlines:
- All Diplomate requirements (including final draft of case study Research paper to be submitted to the Diplomate online forum).
- Diplomate PBRN requirements due into the ICPA.
- Be prepared to construct a poster presentation of your case study abstract for our annual conference and your graduation ceremony on October 22-25th 2010.
About the Diplomate Award
Diplomate Award: The Candidate is awarded Diplomate status upon completion of all above requirements and Diplomas will be mailed to each doctor.
Title: The Diplomate is awarded the letters: DACCP. They stand for: Diplomate of the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics.
Graduation: The ICPA Diplomate graduation ceremony for the successful candidates of Summer Diplomate 2009 and 2010 will be held in conjunction with the ICPA Freedom For Family Wellness Summit to be held on October 22-24th of 2010 in Washington DC.
