ICPA Diplomate Practice Based Research Network Credit Hours

Research PBRN Project Guidelines:

The purpose of the ICPA Practiced Based Research Network (PBRN) is to collect data from our members in preparation for future publication. This unique form of Research offers numerous benefits to you as a Diplomate candidate, to the Diplomate program credibility, to the profession and most of all for the children:

  1. It allows you to save the cost of travel and class fees and offers you credit by doing what you love doing most--caring for children and pregnant women in your own office!
  2. It establishes your clinical competency with the Diplomate Council
  3. It allows you to personally participate in fulfilling the ICPA mission for Research and establishing evidenced based research for practice
  4. It offers our Research Department access to large quantities of data for publication.
  5. It advances the credibility and efficacy of chiropractic care for children and pregnant women.
  6. It fulfills the Diplomate mission and purpose: serving the profession for the advancement of chiropractic care for family wellness.

The Diplomate PBRN is a two fold project involving the data collection for Pregnancy and Children. Each PBRN, when successfully completed will grant the candidate 24 credit hours towards final Diplomate requirements. If you are pursuing Diplomate status and are at any stage of taking classes towards meeting these requirements, PBRN will serve to fulfill the first of your two Diplomate PBRN requirements. In other words, your participation in any one PBRN project will apply 24 credits towards your advanced Diplomate requirements and we will keep records of your registration and participation for the future requirements. It is required for you to complete a total of 48 hours or 2 PBRN projects for Diplomate eligibility.

For each PBRN, the Diplomate candidate is required to collect data on these populations during the time allotted for the study.

  • The ICPA will have approximately 4 PBRNs per year.
  • Each PBRN project acrues 24 hours of credit.
  • Candidates are required to do at least 2 PBRNs for Diplomate status.
  • Candidates must submit a total of 48 patient cases cumulative from both PBRN projects.
  • Candidates may also substitute 2 additional PBRN projects in place of 2 Advanced Elective Classes.
  • Diplomate candidate participation in the PBRN projects requires an annual fee $500 per year.
  • In a years time, you may participate in as many PBRN projects as we have running.
